It is (still, after all these years) being debated as to whether the plea by Our Lady at Fatima, to consecrate Russia to Her Immaculate Heart, was actually fulfilled in 1984. The Vatican says yes (since consecrating the world would include whatever is in it, including Russia, duh). Sister Lucia said yes. Certain rogue clerics have begged to disagree with the Vaticans explanation, and claim that Sister Lucias assurance was staged, or was that of an imposter. Or something. I dont lose a lot of sleep over this issue, and Im not sure whether I agree with Mr Buchanans assessment. But in light of the continued debate (or harangue, if you will) over Fatima, I present this for no other reason, than my appreciation for irony. (NOTA BENE: I was telling people a year ago, that Putins claim over any part of Ukraine, right or wrong, was deeply rooted in the history of the Kievan Rus, the ancestors of the Russian people.
