It is the rainy season in Nepal, where I have been blessed to enjoy fellowship & ministry with some of the sweetest people on planet Earth. In the wee hours of Saturday morning, one of the largest and most devastating mudslides in memory occurred. Hundreds are dead or missing. Houses, businesses, & farmlands destroyed over a wide area. One of Nepals largest & most populated river zones has been dammed up by the slide. The waters are now backing up swiftly and flooding the river villages, including one of our American teams favorite stops for fish & chips between Kathmandu & Jiri. At least half a dozen of our sister churches in the Himalayan United Christian Fellowship of Nepal are damaged or gone. Church families are among the fatalities & missing. The Nepali government, military, police, & civil engineers are trying to cope with the overwhelming situation, but resources are so limited & time is not on their side. PLEASE PRAY for those in the affected region and for the leaders in search of solutions. Only a GOD moment can turn back even greater catastrophies ahead.
