It is the strangest of circumstances that Brendons speech has been - TopicsExpress

It is the strangest of circumstances that Brendons speech has been deeply impacted by the stroke he endured and that when he gets sick it directly manifests in his throat, either in the form of a virus or strep (bacteria), as of the past two years. Sometimes I wonder if there is some sort of correlation. I imagine most experts would say there is not but in my gut I feel there is some sort of synchronicity. Anyway, with my thought being stated, Brendon woke up early Monday morning and said he felt bad - soreness and tired. It should be mentioned that Monday was the beginning of the week of school, which hasnt occurred since December 20th because of the holiday break and the added snow days. In fact the 20th was a Friday and it was an early dismissal day, after the classroom party. There has not been a normal week of school since the week of December 9th. So here we are getting back into the full swing of things and he is expressing that he doesnt feel well. Brendon powered through on Monday with a report from Stephen that he was not feeling well but not running a fever. We simply were not sure if he was really feeling ill or if he didnt want to go to school and made himself sick over it. He loves school, for the most part but sometimes he stews and worries over things out of his control. I got a call from the school nurse during the last hour of school. She said that he asked for her to call me. She reported no fever and thought he could power through for the last hour. He did but when I picked him up he said he was having trouble swallowing and looked so miserable. By Monday evening the low grade fever kicked in. He stayed home yesterday, barely eating and barely talking, lying around quite lethargic. It didnt seem like strep to me so he and I agreed that if the pain and lethargy didnt subside by this morning I would take him to the doctor. This morning he was notably better. The red-rimmed glassy eyes had disappeared and there was smiling! PHEW! As always I worry - a LOT! Today he is on the mend and had a fairly normal appetite at breakfast. THANK YOU GOD!!! (It will be another week and half before Brendon is back into the normal routine as next week, Monday, is a National Holiday - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.)
