It is time for 1L officer elections. My participation as an officer of FedSoc has been the most valuable extracurricular activity I have done in law school. I highly recommend you apply. Here are some basic descriptions of 1L officers positions: 1L Public Relations Officer: These officers will help draft press releases, create flyers, and manage the chapter’s Facebook and Twitter pages to advertise and promote upcoming events and otherwise facilitate communication outside the chapter. Works primarily with the chapter Vice President. 1L Secretary: This officer will help manage the chapter’s membership list and facilitates communication within the chapter. Works primarily with the chapter Secretary. 1L Treasurer: This officer will help plan, coordinate, and purchase food and any other items as needed. Works primarily with the chapter Treasurer. 1L Historian: This officer will take photos, keep a record of attendance, and otherwise maintain the official record of Federalist Society events at KU. Works primarily with the chapter President. These positions are flexible and there are other duties like video editing and writing press releases etc. Committed 1L leaders will be considered for 2L positions which can come with opportunities to meet amazing contacts (Like Alito in my case among others). To apply indicate your order of preference for the positions above and answer the following questions in 100 words or less each: 1. Why do you want to be an officer in the Federalist Society? 2. Briefly describe your beliefs, in relation to the law and public policy. 3. List any past leadership experience. Email your answers to me at [email protected] by WEDNESDAY 10/8/14 at 5PM.
