It is time for Labor re-examine its forestry and timber industry policies, both nationally and here in Tasmania, and to repudiate the nonsense Greens position that it got sucked into in its futile attempt to hold on to power. It didnt work, and they need to understand why. They dont need to look far, I can tell them. It was because they upset their traditional supporters, and they deserted them. They abandoned those who always gave them first preference votes and sabotaged their interests in favour of chasing people who never give them their first preference votes, and whose policies are destructive. Some Labor people are still in denial, none more so than Tony Burke, who had the nerve to come down here a week ago and add further insult by publishing photos with more spurious nonsense in the company of none other than Phil Pullinger from Environment Tasmania. Unless there is a full repudiation, Labor can forget about support from the timber industry, and it will be a long way back from here.
