It is time for all our development to be constructed in a way that allows it to exist in harmony with the natural world and the ecosystems with which it occurs. It must not be at the expense of those ecosystems or the plants and animals that rely on them for survival. At present, Australia is clearing land at rates similar to Brazil and Indonesia. The appalling negligence of this cannot be overstated. If we cannot develop in a way that both considers and provides for the needs of our native flora and fauna then that development should not be allowed to proceed. Period. Yellow-bellied Gliders are gliding possums that inhabit the eastern and southeastern seaboard of mainland Australia. They are adversely affected by habitat loss and fragmentation, including the loss of hollow-bearing trees required for nesting and loss of feed trees.
