It is unbelievable that in the world we live in today where the dead count caused by addiction and overdose has become an epidemic that there are no laws or support for families to be able to take over an active addicts medical decisions especially someone who refuses to do anything but keep making attempts to end their own life to escape their own mental struggle of their addiction. Loved ones have no choice but to watch their loved ones self destruct. My sister and I have made countless efforts in having him taken to hospitals in near death condition and no kind of mental state to make his own health decisions and begged the 5 hospitals hes been in the last 2 months to keep him telling them how harmful he is to himself. The arresting police officers of Colerain twp that arrived at his crash sight totally his car Sunday must of been an angel sent by God because instead of throwing my dad in jail he truly believes addiction is a disease and has tried helping us get him treatment. Even had another colerain police officer escort my dad to the hospital last night in hopes that since our concern hasnt gotten anyone to take us serious enough to put in the effort to getting him help. This world wonders why addictuon deaths have become an epidemic.. its because our medical laws and people make make it damn near impossible for them to get them to admit them or get them into addictuon facility. My dad was taken to uc where he was hospitalized a few years ago from literally shooting himself as an attempt to escape his constant struggle with affection and even after the psychologist called and I voiced my concern about needing to get him mental help the let him walk out of there in less then ten minutes ALONE intoxicated after being brought by police officers to show them the urgency In him needing help. There has to be some type of law to hold these doctors accountable when they are informed of someones mental state and release them anyway. Im physically, emotionally and psychologically tore down and sad that families are left to just watch their loved ones end up dead instead of the world finding a better system to find help for their loved ones. All in can do is pray at this point that God somehow fills him with the strength to want to overcome this instead of loosing him to it
