It is very instructive to note that come Saturday the 29th day of march 2014. A very important announcement will be made in Yamoussoukro, Ivory coast. The Ecowas Heads of States are currently meeting and one of the key matter in issue has to do with signing the full pact of the controversial EPA, (Economic Partnership Agreement) with European Union. I believe that Ecowas Leaders will be shooting themselves and by extention its citizenry in the foot, if a wholesale endorsement of the said pact is entertained. Civil society organizations have vehemently opposed the signing of this controversial document from day one. It is my hope that our Leaders will for once surprise us by completely rejecting the endorsement of this neo-colonial pact which has been craftly designed and packaged with unreasonable capitalist profit making motive.Going forward, I dont see how it will inure to our benefit economically if E.U is given free and unlimited access to Ecowas markets. Why is it that almost every so called poverty alleviation programmes from these pseudo-development partners of ours never worked.Yet our leaders cannot read the handwriting on the wall. Now they have recycled and came back with E.P.A. Let Ecowas member states trade among themselves first. Let the artificial Barriers among ourselves be first removed. Charity they say starts at home.
