It is very odd to watch #CancelColbert trend on twitter, etc. I dont think the activists pushing this read their own hashtag - if they did (or looked up accounts posting) theyd see that about a third are NeoCons who are using this as an opening to remove an enemy. Seriously, search for #CancelColbert and lib on Twitter. Ill wait (and while youre there, check the tweets of some of the people giving oxygen to this fight.) So yeah, that- its wicked smart on their part - but this didnt trend because of progressive values, its trending because of the types of folks social justice activists are fighting. If it were me, even if I WAS outraged (which Im not) Id be more outraged that I was being used as someones pawn then that a Comedy Central intern posted an out of context bit that came off REALLY bad without context, but that sort of thinking and run on sentences is why I dont make the big bucks. If youre gonna be a slacktivist be a weapon, not a tool.
