It is with a heavy heart that we share that the holy name of jesus parish councils request to de-consecrate Saint Laurentius Church was accepted by Archbishop Chaput. Saint Laurentius Church will be deconsecreated to profane, but not sordid, use effective October 1, 2014. Fr. John Sibel read the proclamation at the beginning of the homily, and will read it tomorrow at Mass. It will be publicly released tomorrow at noon. The reasons listed are unfortunate - too expensive to fix, no other financial option, and (sadly) no Archdiocesan, historic or artistic significance. We are sorry to share this in a public forum. There is still a canon law lawyer working on behalf of St. Laurentius.
