It is with a mixture of sadness and love that I share the news - TopicsExpress

It is with a mixture of sadness and love that I share the news that my oldest friend Thom Weyand passed away this morning. He had been battling illness for a long time. I visited Thom recently in California, knowing full well it would be our last time together. We laughed a lot like in old times. It was such a precious time together. Thats what I am hanging on to right now. Once when I was in Bangkok, Fannie and I stumbled upon a Buddhist funeral in one of those amazing temples sprinkled around that magical city. A charming monk who spoke English very well invited us in. Out of respect, we felt we shouldnt, being tourists! But he insisted. It was a moment to share with us the importance of experiencing the happiness we hold in our hearts with our memories of the departed. Otherwise, the departed will be impeded in their journey to their next stage. A lesson I take to heart. In these photos I share with you here are Thom with his beloved Terry (on the left) in a photo I took of them in the mid 90s, and the second is a photo taken of Thom and I on a friends farm above Lake Erie in 1970. Thom and I met in kindergarten and remained kindred spirits throughout the many glorious changes in our lives. My world got a little smaller today, but the memories we shared are now travelling beyond my consciousness. Good bye, Thom, you were a wonderful friend.
