It is with a profound and deep sadness that we learnt, today, of the tragic death of our friend and former player Seb Grootz. Seb lived life to the full and played his rugby in the same manner. Always keen to enter the fray, make the tackles and enjoy the beers afterwards Seb was a regular in the squad and his passing is a huge loss to all who knew him. Although Seb hadn’t played for a few seasons he was considering a return to the pitch this season with our 2nd XV, where he would have made a big impact, on and off the field. Many of our players recall the enthusiasm that Seb brought to the game, his amazing sense of humour and huge grin. There will be a minutes silence at both senior matches this Saturday as a mark of respect to Seb. We wish to offer our most sincere condolences to his family, at this very sad time.
