It is with a very heavy heart and a smile on my face that I remember a great community member and a friend that past away over the weekend. Mike Fak, was many things to our community, and Im not easily convinced that his shoes can be filled, and Im certain not by just one person. Ive never met someone so generous, and passionate about a community and all that the community entails: every non-profit, every benefit, every business, every event and every person. Mike often told me that he rarely walked into a room that he didnt know everyone, but he would always make sure he never walk out of a room without knowing everyone. I saw him practice this so many times over the years Ive had the pleasure of knowing Mike. He truly knew no stranger. Ive admire this characteristic in him since the moment I met him for the first time. Mike welcomed me to this community and embraced me as if I were born and raised here. Im not sure anyone (other than Sharon, his wife, and Tim his son) will ever know the true impact of Mikes generosity and work in our community. Im certain we will all know the loss of it. I cannot say anything more than what has already been said by so many others about what a great person he was. I will miss my friend and someone that I saw nearly everyday of the work-week for over six years. Mike made it a point to stop in our office almost everyday with breaking news, funny stories (some true and some just made up to get a laugh out of us), or just to say hi. Mike has been more of a constant in the Chamber office than almost anyone else that has actually gotten paid to be here. I think it is now time for Logan County and its residences to return the same generosity Mike gave to his community. If you pray, pray for Mikes family, if you do not, please keep them in your thoughts and hearts. Find something that is meaningful for to you or that you know would be meaningful to him and give it in whatever way you can. He would have! Rest in peace, Mike Fak, owner of The Logan County Herald, and proud Logan County resident. Always in my thoughts, Andi Hake logancountyherald/454/s/latest-posts Lincoln Chamber
