It is with a very heavy heart that I write this post, my wee lovely, witty, funny Dad lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease earlier today. He passed away as we all hoped he would, peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family. He fought as hard as he could, but in the end he was just exhausted. I will miss him every day, he was a wonderful person. He loved every single one of his 8 children, he loved every one of his 18 grandchildren and his 4 great grandchildren equally. My Dad was a friend to many, he knew everyone and everyone knew him. We knew him as Dad, they knew him as Bill, Wullie, William, Billy. A lot of names for a wee man, but he would never correct them. he didnt care what they called him. They always stopped to speak to him, ask how his family were doing, that was the measure of my Dad, universally liked by all. He was not a wealthy man, but he was rich in other things which he shared freely among his children and anyone who would listen to him. My brother Charlie, posted the photo I have included with this post. It shows Dad standing alone, looking into the distance, with white fluffy clouds and blue skies overhead. I like the picture, but its a puzzle. It shows someone alone in life, possibly pondering why we are all here? I like to think it shows Dad standing on the hill at Chatelerhault, wondering where everyone else is, and where the kids are with the Easter eggs? Rest in peace Dad. We love you to the moon and back.
