It is with great pleasure to inform you that Professor Paul Grant from the School of Safety, Security and Emergency Management in the College of Justice & Safety was nominated and won the Advisor of the Year (faculty role) for the Kentucky Academic Advising Association. Professor Grant was recognized at our annual state conference which was held September 12-13 in Louisville, KY. Professor Grant was nominated by his peers who described him as: “…being invested in (students) futures. Professor Grant models the behavior that he expects and is strong student advocate. He utilizes creative and critical thinking while being a student advocate and mentors struggling students.” I want to extend my congratulations to Professor Grant and the Eastern Kentucky University community. Arthur Chickering and Zelda Gamson has this to say regarding faculty interaction: “Frequent faculty-student contact in and out of the classroom is the most important factor in student motivation and involvement.” We hope that Professor Grant is paving the way for more faculty-student interaction at Eastern Kentucky University.
