It is with great sadness that I share that Terrance Andre Hurd 86 has reported the passing of Fisk alumnus, professor and Jubilee Singers Director Matthew Kennedy 42. His career at Fisk began as an instructor in 1947, which led to an appointment on the music faculty as an associate professor in 1954. In 1956, he married piano soloist, Anne Gamble. The following year, he was appointed director of the Fisk Jubilee Singers in 1957, and for the next twenty-three years, he mentored hundreds of young students under his headship. We extend our deepest sympathies to his daughter Nina Kennedy and will miss his heartfelt leading of The Gold and The Blue. A son ever on the altar.
