It is with great sadness that we post this update for Maddy the Peanut. Godspeed little angel. Our angel is in heaven Posted 2 hours ago Dear family and friends, It is with great sadness that we write to tell you that Maddy became a neuroblastoma angel a little before 2 a.m. today. While we knew our days with Maddy were numbered, we didnt expect the end to come this soon. But, we are grateful that her pain is ended and that she is free from her cancer. We have been up for the better part of the past three days, and the past 10 days have been hectic. Please forgive us if we do not give a complete recounting of events at this time. We are exhausted and need time to grieve with our immediate family. We would like to tell you two things about tonight, though: 1.) Maddy died with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa Greene by her side ... and she went to heaven with a smile on her face and 2.) We accomplished our goal of getting back to Freeport before she passed: We made it home from American Family Childrens Hospital a little more than six hours before she died. We will post the visitation and funeral information later; we are still sorting out details. We have no regrets from the past year, and we are lucky we had one year, one month, and two days with Maddy after her diagnosis. It was a challenging year, but it still was a good year. Lots of love, laughs and smiles between the difficult days. We are grateful for her medical team and know that some things just are out of our human control. When God is ready for someone to come home, she will come home. God wanted her, and we know that we have an angel watching over us. God needs His angels too. We look forward to being reunited with her one day. We love you all and thank you for your love and support. God bless ... and, while we are sure Maddy is in heaven, we appreciate the prayers.
