It is with heavy heart that I repost this from Natalie Gottbehuet from Canon City Fallen Tigers R.I.P.: Many of you knew Sarge Heinen, as he was a teacher at Canon City High for almost 30 years. He was my grandfather. Although he did not attend Canon City High as a student, I know he touched many lives in his tenure there. I am sorry to report he passed away today. I have to say I am extremely saddened to hear this news. Sarge was a great influence on my life in High School. One of my favorite teachers and persons to be around. He was a great mentor, influence and person in my life during my high school years at CCHS. He helped guide and mold me in ROTC and affected my ultimate decision to join the US Army. He was a wonderful person and affected more lives than just mine with his spirit, smile and life experiences he shared with us all. He taught the ROTC kids a great many things and was a wonderful influence on a great many future, mine included, military careers. Heaven accepted a great soldier and man today. RIP Sarge Heinen.
