It is with the heaviest of hearts that I am writing this post. Im sure some of you have been waiting for our weekly updates of Willas puppies, and wondering why there havent been any this week. We lost Seger abruptly on Tuesday without any warning signs or symptoms. We took him in for a necropsy to find out what may have caused this unexplained death and figure out what we were dealing with, for the safety of the other puppies. While waiting for results, we lost Savvy just as abruptly on Wednesday evening. We got the results back yesterday and found out as we suspected that they have CHV (common in puppy mills and breeding kennels. It is passed from the mother to pups during birth. Unfortunately, there is no direct treatment for this, and it is a miracle that they have made it to six weeks, as they typically pass by the age of three weeks. We have been working as hard as we can to make conditions as favorable as possible for the babies to live, through supportive care. We thought just maybe we were through the worst, but we lost Sanford this evening. We are completely devastated and ask that you all PLEASE pray for these babies! At this point it is a wait and see situation. I would like to thank Cornerstone Veterinary Services (Beth Tabor and staff) for being so supportive, patient and providing us with great care during this difficult time. I would like to ask that everyone please be patient with us if you have submitted an application as we are focusing all of our efforts at this time on keeping these babies alive. Thank you all for your continued support and we will keep you posted as time reveals their fate.
