It is with the most HEAVY and BROKEN heart, Wylie made the night - TopicsExpress

It is with the most HEAVY and BROKEN heart, Wylie made the night sky a lot brighter last night. Wylie was awarded his wings yesterday afternoon after a very disheartening visit to our Vet. I woke up Wednesday morning for work like usual, and Wylie was not himself. After talking with my brother through the morning I called and made an appointment with our Vet. I got home from work and we left for the vet. Long story short we did bloodwork and he was quite anemic and other numbers were off also. His gums had become quickly pale compared to when we left the house and hour earlier. We did some xrays and Dr Hill fond out his spleen was quite enlarged and suspected cancer and it had possibly already burst, which explained his anemia. I have to give Reg a huge shoutout for once again being there at the drop of a dime for our Legacy dogs. After much discussion it only seemed right to set him free. With Reg and myself present we set him free of his pain and let him be free. I told him we all loved him and wish our love could heal him. I let him know we would meet again and to go find my Dad, Winnie, Trisha, Buster, Peanut, Ivory, and Roxanne. They will watch over him till we are able to meet again at the bridge to cross over together. I was loving, kissing and petting him as he peacefully went to sleep. Run free Mister Wylie!!!!! On or around October 05,2011 Mister Wylie was blessed to be fostered and entered into my brother Greg and myself home. He was originally surrendered to the shelter at the ripe old age of 11. He was supposedly surrendered for fighting with the other dog in his home. I was determined not to let him die all alone in that shelter after being alive that long. After a short discussion with Gail, about possible separation, keeper status with his age, and other things, I willing took him on. Soon after it was apparent he was quite smitten and bonded to my brother Greg. If Greg was around, I didnt exist. Greg was his. Wylie had been our 5th foster at the time and the first to attach and really bond with Greg. Where ever Greg went, Wylie was usually not far behind or next to him, including the bathroom.... LOL He did have some resource guarding and I am pretty sure that was his reasoning for his grumpiness (fighting). We were able to quickly figure out his triggers and cut him off at the pass. He was a really easy foster... I am trying to type this wiping the rivers of tears away, I am still in shock and dismay about having to make the right decision for him, but the worst ever for Greg and I. Please pardon my ramblings, as I am sure there is a lot more I want to say, but it is really hard to type, think, and cry rivers at the same time. I am going to attempt to overcome my fears of technology and want to put together a memorial video of him which I will share when I complete.(Might not be very timely) For now, here is a couple of pictures I think really shows off his personality..... Love you Wylie......
