It is worthy to note that the case on the territorial disputes between China and the Philippines at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) is one of the challenges being faced by the said institution. Communist China is totally against the arbitration for some political and historical reasons. Interestingly, the said tribunal is currently headed by a Japanese judge whose country is also having a hot territorial dispute with China. Will China accept the judgment as one of the signatories and ratifiers of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)? Never.
