It isn’t often that you get the opportunity to become part of a new billion dollar industry, but that’s exactly what’s happening now in Nevada. With the passage of SB374 and the upcoming reforms to the Nevada Medical Marijuana law, it seems that everyone is rushing to Nevada to grab a chunk of this new canna-business. Seminars from outside groups are being held which talk about the cannabis industry in California or Colorado. These companies are bringing in out of state people to talk about out of state programs. These speakers talk to people about growing plants, making tincture or running a dispensary or a bakery after you have a business license. Well, what about the answers you need to get your license in the first place? Produced by the Wellness Education Cannabis Advocates of Nevada, the Nevada Medical Cannabis Symposium will be held on Saturday August 3 at the Alexis Park All Suite Resort. The conference will address the specific needs for owners, operators and investors on how to obtain your business license in Nevada. Immediately following the symposium, the Green Rush Nevada Cocktail Reception will be held adjacent to the seminar hall and is sponsored by DrReefer. The symposium is designed to help Nevada business entrepreneurs to make intelligent decisions that will give them the best opportunity to secure the limited number of licenses that will be issued while at the same time encouraging the development of an ethical, responsible healthcare industry for the benefit of our state, its citizens and those savvy entrepreneurs who are jumping in early. The producers of this symposium have put together a speaker list which will make for a very informative curriculum tailored to what you need to know to open up in Nevada. The speakers that have committed to appear at the event include: • Sen. Tick Segerblom and Sen. Mark Hutchison, the two men who were most responsible for passing this bill in the Nevada Senate. They will give you the inside scoop on what the legislative intent for business is in the new law, and how to take advantage of it. • Michele Fiore, the lone Republican Assembly member to vote for the bill and was key to its passage will speak on the subject of the home healthcare industry as it relates to this new law. • Rebecca Gasca, former ACLU of Nevada lobbyist now operating her own firm who worked for months to hammer out an acceptable compromise and build support for the bill will speak on how to put together an effective application package for the Division of Health. • Dr. David Udy, a doctor of public health will speak on the importance of education for those working in and managing the businesses that will be created over the course of the next year. • Derek & Amanda Connor, Nevada attorneys who specialize in medical marijuana criminal defense and business law will address the audience, will detail how to craft successful business strategies to maximize your business potential while avoiding the pitfalls of criminal entanglement. • Michael McAuliffe, a twelve year veteran of the Nevada patients’ rights and reform movement will discuss the non-profit experience aspects of the applications, the likely unfolding of events over the next two years and how business owners can position themselves to capitalize on the political climate here in Nevada. • Other speakers have been invited and will be added to this list as soon as they have confirmed their attendance. Onsite registration for the Nevada Medical Cannabis Symposium – Green Rush Nevada will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday August 3 at the Alexis Park All Suite Resort, located at 375 E. Harmon Avenue in Las Vegas. After the morning session, a catered “Ask the Experts” lunch will take place in a room adjacent to the seminar hall, during which attendees can break bread and converse with the featured speakers in a less formal setting. Following the afternoon session a networking cocktail reception will take place at 6 p.m., sponsored by DrReefer. The cocktail reception will be open not only to attendees, but also to patients and prospective employees who are interested in working in or patronizing businesses in this emerging industry. An added bonus is the fact that on the same day, an investor conference with an expected attendance of 1,000 business investors will be taking place at the Alexis Park, and the cocktail reception will be open to them as well. All in all, Green Rush Nevada is the place to be if you’re serious about taking part in the Nevada cannabis industry.
