It just burns my ass when I see these postings about how the IAM is just after our money and accusing IAM leaders of wanting our hard earned money to enrich themselves. I have met all the top officials at IAM and nothing could be further from the truth. Are these accusers aware that unions are non profit organizations? Just like churches and charities! These not for profit organizations are held to a very high standard of accountability, even higher than for profit corporations like ours. The salary and total compensation of the senior IAM officials are a fraction of what Delta pays its executives. Actually minuscule by comparison to Richard Andersons 12 million increase last year. Go educate yourselves. This is public information! Im sure the facts dont matter to you anyway. If you werent around pre-bankruptcy or even pre-September 11 why dont you take time to ask around to learn of all the wages and benefits that were reduced or just eliminated from our compensation? That was years ago. Try doing the math and come up with a number that represents how much most of us have lost in wages and the added costs of medical coverage. How about the repeated abuses by scheduling during IROPS and yes, even during regular operations. Then, you might get an inkling of what we have lost and are trying to regain! Management isnt going to offer us any compensation to cover what we lost over the years or they would have done so by now. We, the Majority(60%) have expressed our desire to seek representation and negotiate a legally binding contract that will give us the compensation commensurate with the success we have helped build. Lets come together in unity, which is what a UNION is really all about. Together we can build a better Delta.
