It just happened to be that today ALLMEP was in DC with a delegation of twenty going to Capital Hill to advocate to the US government the need for civil society work. We were all sobered by the news and violence coming form Jerusalem. The message we took to law-makers and government officials was the need for people to realize each other as people. That different programs work for different individuals but everyone needed to recognize their shared humanity and that they can only exist in a shared future. That Congress has taken a role though its funding through USAID but it can and must do more on an Administration level and on a Congressional Level. In DC, we gave this message, and in a few weeks we will be coming together as a community to explore how we can do more together to respond to the violence and hate that we are all confronting.
