It just hit me: my mom is a walking, talking example of effort because she illustrates how important it is for success. Whether you wanna lose weight, start a biz, write a book, learn to juggle, or become a Broadway actress; it doesnt matter. If youre pursuing something worth doing/achieving/having, there is no getting around the fact that youre gonna have to invest a whole lot of time and energy into (insert your thing here). Or, summarized in a single sentence, you must put forth a high level of effort for a long period of time (if this isnt true, youre probably not thinking big enough). What does this have to do with my mom? She is ALWAYS winning free tickets to concerts, football games, Nascar races, wrestling matches, so on (if its a sport, she likes it). A lot of people call her lucky, but theyre totally missing the point. Its not luck, its effort. She *really* likes a local classic rock radio station that does contests/giveaways very frequently (i.e. If youre caller #9, you win tickets to see this super fun thing!). Instead of saying, Id never win, like 90% of people do, she picks up the phone and dials... every. damn. time. Does she lose a lot? Well, yeah, duh. But since shes putting forth a higher level of effort than other people, she just so happens to be wiping the floor with them. Even if you drop the ball or fall on your face while youre pursuing your goal, its nothing to freak out about. The more shots you take, the better your odds of winning. Are you going to take your shot today?
