It just occurred to me that possibly the truest thing anyone has said to me this year is what Lew Wolff said to me: that we are all politicians now. Hes right. The space between what we really think and the face we show others to get what we want from them has taken over as the dominant social construct. Vote for me. Approve of me. Accede to my desires and heres the commercial of propaganda coming out of my mouth to persuade you to surrender to my charms and sign on to my bidding. No facts. All spin, all the time, just to survive. When the barometer of truth in your life becomes that guy, is it time to just renounce the material world and move to the Himalayas for a life of withdrawn, chaste solitude or what?
