It made me a little giddy tonight when the 911 operator thanked me and said I was the first person to call in about the forest fire Will and I spotted on Hwy 550 on our way through Colorado. But besides making me feel really important (kind of like a hero!) it also made me wonder why none of the other cars passing through the mountains thought it might be important to report a forest fire the size of a city block flaring up clearly visible against the night sky.
