It makes me really sad to hear that Drew University is thinking of getting rid of the dance minor. During my four years at Drew a lot of my time and effort was put into the dance department. When I first entered the school I was so excited to see that I had the opportunity to actually study and minor in an activity that had been so important to me for most of my life. My dance background before entering college was heavily ballet based. Because of this dance program I was forced to practice different types of dance and broaden my knowledge of the art. It really brought me out of my shell and I owe all that to Cheryl Clark. I learned so much from her. She not only severely increased my dance education, she also taught me a lot about myself in general. I wouldnt have made it through my college career if I didnt have her classes to relieve the stress of school and everything else going on in my life. Being able to continue dancing in college confirmed for me that I needed to incorporate dance into my career post grad. I hope the university strongly reconsiders doing away with the minor. It would be a shame to take this experience away from future students.
