It makes me very sad when I observe how segregated St Kitts has become as opposed to Nevis. In Nevis you have rich, middle and low income living together. Whereas in St Kitts there is a definite class distinctions. For example, a White Canadian friend who visits and lives in Frigate Bay during the winter months, told me her White friends in Frigate Bay seldom venture over to the west side except maybe Brimstone Hill and now the Taiwanese Eco Farm. They just dont come over here she said. Yet they dont mind mingling with the Kittitians who live in Frigate Bay. (Somehow they are different because they look like they have money.) In fact many people in Frigate Bay look like they have money when in fact they are working stiffs, retired or living off spousal support. One or two major calamities and they are out of Frigate Bay which accounts for so many houses with apartments to sustain the income of the owners! Of course you have a few both Kittitians and Whites who make really good money. Its interesting when you think about it because the wealthy people on the Peninsula would NOT deal with the working class stiffs in Frigate Bay! A local person cleaning house gets closer to these people. (Sadly if this government get its way, that will be the fate of many Locals; cleaning homes of the wealthy.) So I hope the Unity government empowers its people to be respected by all who come to live on these beautiful shores. All cases of racial inequality should be investigated and addressed. Do not allow racism to rear its ugly head in St Kitts and Nevis!!!
