It may be helpful, and interesting to know some criteria of what is allowable on labels. “Calorie free” means less than 5 calories per serving. “Low calorie” means 40 calories or less per serving. “Diet” requires it to be at least 40 % less calories than a similar food, or 20 % less calories if liquid. “Light ” indicates that the product has been changed to contain a third fewer calories or half the fat than originally. Reduced or less sodium means that the product was nutritionally altered to contain at least 25 per cent less sodium than the original product.
