It may be horribly presumptuous of me to make the following suggestions to parents and grandparents, but here goes: encourage children to speak in full sentences, use "yes" instead of yah, ask for elaborations filled with details and vivid vocabulary, and do not tolerate slang. They should reserve that for their peers. Expose them to discussions and reading material well above grade-level...sorry. this is on my mind. Too many fine young minds going unchallenged. Oh yes, and if a paper gets an A, and you know it is awful. Go and see the teacher. I am done now. LOL
