It might be worth raising the question of the books purported to be written by Sw Satyananda. I acquired these early on in my path but several people told me that in fact they were written by others and then dedicated to him (issued under his brand?? is the way I would put it unkindly perhaps) For example, this from the Wales ashram: Swami Nishchalananda was inspired by his guru to be instrumental in writing a number of books on yoga published by the Bihar School of Yoga including: •Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha •Meditations from the Tantras •Sannyasa Tantra •A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Kriya Yoga. Funnily the first second fourth of these I feel are excellent and I have read the fourth in full. But they purport to be authored by Satyananda and I can find no mention of Swami Nischalananda in them. By all accounts, Sw Nischalananda is scholarly, ethical and well respected, and I have close friends who have spent many occasions in his Wales ashram with nothing but good to report. But what I cant understand then is why are these works written by him published as being written by Satyananda? Also, and entirely subjectively I might add, several friends who are absorbed in the tradition have stated that they were quite underwhelmed by meeting or listening to Sw Satsangi in terms of the depth and comprehension of what she had to say. Yet for example the Saundari Lahari published in her name shows deep scholarship, research and understanding of a complex text. The only response I have had from those friends when I asked was that maybe it was transmission. Is it not more probably that a vast library of works ostensibly being written by the heads of the tradition are being ghost written??
