It never fails... I get a question about diet soda today... Can we drink it? My first indication is well... I wouldnt put that crap into my body and neither should you but everybody is at a different spot in the journey. The truth is, theres no real hard evidence that Ive been presented that states, *for weight loss*, to refute it. In fact, its the opposite. For weight loss, diet soda may help if you transitioned from drinking sugar before. And that makes sense, right? Stop consuming excess sugar by using a no-calorie, and non-sugar substitute... of which consuming extra calories and excessive sugar can or will lead to weight gain. As a fitness pro, Im constantly fighting my personal views with my professional ones... its a fine line sometimes. But, yeah... diet soda *may* be a good step for you. Although, if your goal is your health as well as weight loss, consider it a step. Because weve got one study saying the non-caloric sweeteners are bad for you and another saying they arent. So... we dont know quite yet. And thats fine, too. But we do know water is great for you. And we also know you need sugar--particularly around exercise or serious activity. So do that, too.
