It only takes 1/3 acre to grow enough veggies for a family of 4, or if they are in an apartment they can grow enough veggies for a family of four using aquaponics on 8 sq ft. We have no issue with helping those less fortunate - Only we believe that it is better to teach a person to fish than just feed them for a day. There is plenty of unused space and land all over the metropoliton areas to grow more than enough food for everyone. All that is needed is alittle guidence and some elbow grease. It would not hurt any of those that recieve the food program food to get their hands dirty and learn to grow their own food. While they may not be able to grow their milk and cheese, they might be able to barter some of their veggies, eggs, and rabbit meat for what they cant grow. Goats also require very little land and provide tons of dairy. So, Why not get rid of the wasted space and grow food - and maybe even get rid of some of these expanses of lawns that do nothing but require chemicals, and prescious water to maintian?
