It really bothers me how simple people are on social media. Sharing links to images and news stories about the tragedies that are currently happening in the world does not make you socially conscious to the ills of our society. You are no better than CNN, Fox News or any other billion dollar media company that blasts these images all day long for ratings so that they may win Emmys. Wake up. The real socially conscious are those who can truly do something. We all HAVE to become the next generation of The Civil Rights Movement because it is our generation that is being murdered and police due to racial ignorance. Where is the Dr. King, Malcolm X, Andrew Goodman, Charles Houston, Thurgood Marshall, Medgar Evers, Phillip Randolph, & Ella Baker among us? When are black people going to realize that protesting & rioting in your own neighborhood only brings devastation to YOUR neighborhood. How about protesting at the police headquarters, the mayors office, the governors office. How about disrupting the calm streets of those police officers who disrupt our streets? How many more present day Emmit Till stories do we need to share to see that we have forgotten about the KKK & Jim Crow. I have never personally experienced racism but that doesnt mean I dont acknowledge or know that it is alive & well. FYI minorities cant be racist. Racism is about privilege & WE DONT HAVE PRIVILEGE!!!!
