It really displeases me when people try to knock my vocabulary. Not because it is weak, but because I engage in the use of so-called big words. It was like that in high school and thats why people are afraid to be smart. Youre penalized in our culture for exercising intelligence at all moments. That held alot of my peers back, they were trying to be dumb to fit in. If you have to be stupid to be considered cool, what is cool? I would much rather be lame. The lamest ever. Im cool with that. Yes, I use school words. Yes, I know how to punctuate and spell on an expert level. Why wouldnt I? Its nothing special. We were given the same tools, I just choose to let mine help build character and intellectual respect. I committed almost 15 years of my mornings and afternoons 5 days a week just to graduate. (Head start, pre-k, kindergarten, 1st-12th, before you guys read it wrong and try to joke. Oooh it took you 15 years! Hahaha. I can hear it now. Lol. Point clarified.) But why go through all of that just to walk around sounding and acting like you dropped out of school in the second grade, though? Not me. I am a reflection of my parents and how they wanted me to be. Smart, headstrong, successful, self-sufficient, strong... I am a reflection of how I want my kids to turn out, AT THE VERY LEAST. I am tasked with carrying out not only my mother and fathers legacy, but carrying out and further strengthening the Williams and Smiths legacy of continuing greatness. Not a small task and sheer ignorance will not be the weapon forged to destroy my opportunity and/or duty. Sorry to disappoint those of you that go out of your way to come off as Neanderthals and savages. Youre 4,000-40,000+ years too late. Lol. Its 2014. Act like it. So, no, Im not apologetic for being smart. Im sorry that everyone else chooses not to be, just to fit in. Thats not a club I aspire to be exclusive to. God bless you all. For knowledge and intelligence is no gift to the knowledgeable or intelligent, just as wisdom is no gift to the wise. A fool could never figure a way to unwrap the gift of intelligence or wisdom to even enjoy it.
