It recently occurred to me that we adopted canine versions of our daughters. Zamboni - The calmer, older, wiser one. She is sweet and kind, possessing a rather gentle demeanor despite some evidence to the contrary. She is a fairly reliable rule follower - anxious to not disappoint but often lazy and forgetful. She treats her younger sibling with a measured tolerance and casual disdain, and often stoops to her level with childish snips and barks when they play. She watches with barely concealed apathy as her younger sister works overtime to stay on her radar. And while she clearly loves her younger sibling, she would never admit to such a weakness. Stella – The younger, excitable, slightly spastic one. She is also sweet and kind but possesses a not-so-subtle devious side that is not-so-surprising once you get to know her. It doesnt take long to understand she believes she IS a princess. She is an attention whore and will resort to any means necessary to attract the attention of her older sibling – insert aforementioned snipping and barking. She has an in-your-face personality and brandishes tenacity like a super-power. Then she hops into your lap and cuddles up for some well-deserved snuggles.
