It saddens me to see the demise of both rural and small town - TopicsExpress

It saddens me to see the demise of both rural and small town Oklahoma. I drive through Oklahoma and I see once bustling little towns and communities that are now little more than vague outlines of ghosts from eras gone by. Yet, amongst the faded signs of businesses long shuttered and brick buildings that were made from the soil of this great state that are now collapsing in on themselves, you find a resilient breed of people who proudly call these places home. They choose to remain out of pride, others out of necessity, but the each are fiercely proud of their hometown. Oklahoma sits on top of unimaginable wealth, be it crude oil, natural gas and even water. Our fields are some of the most fertile in the world, whether their growing wheat, corn, cotton or raising some of the best cattle in the industry. Yet our rural areas are struggling to stay alive and thrive? We, as a people and a state government, need to find as many ways to bring back jobs, businesses and thrust back to life a thriving rural and small town Oklahoma. As your state legislator I will tirelessly work with my colleagues in both the house and senate to bring back industry, opportunity and hope back to these areas. I will champion the oil, gas, agriculture and technologies industries. However important these large industries are to our economy as whole, we cannot leave out our small businesses, whether they be a small flower shop and boutique, or the mechanic down the street, we need to look at every option and incentive to attract businesses to Oklahoma, but to bring them and keep them thriving in rural Oklahoma. Whether that includes tax incentives, tax holidaysor the many other possible ways we as a state can attract and keep our economy booming. If we can help to create one job, that one job will help to create 3-4 others, and those will do the same. This is how we are going to save and bring back to life small town Oklahoma, instead of allowing the larger urban areas to have the jobs, while our rural residents have to commute and help to create most of those feeder jobs in the big city. Help me bring back rural and small town Oklahoma!
