It saddens us to hear the news of the school shooting in Peshawar. Whenever such horrific acts occur, our world seems to stop spinning for a moment. The moment is even longer when the victims are children - innocent, hopeful, defenseless children. And it is during these moments we ask ourselves, “Why does this happen? Could I have helped prevent it?” While the answers are expansive and detailed, one thing is clear. The people responsible are threatened by the education of young Pakistanis. Whatever the exigence behind the attack, they fear what those children and the school represent; a brighter future for the people of Pakistan. Today on this very black day for Pakistan, as we mourn the deaths of more than 100 innocent children, as we pray that they rest in peace and their families have the strength to bear this tremendous loss, lets strengthen our commitment to educate the children of Pakistan so that one day these senseless acts will end.
