It seems every year we deal with this issue, Halloween, should we or shouldnt we? Everyone has their own opinion, and that should be based at least in part on your faith, and how you see this playing out in your life. I dont see this as the issue others do, I see it as a day that small, some not so small, children get to dress up as a character, and go house to house getting candy from good people, that get a kick out of seeing the costumes and make-up. Now for those that see this as a Christian, or Biblical slight, you are entitled to feel that way. A couple of years ago, I researched this and found, the majority of people did not see this as a Christian slight, in fact several of the articles I read encouraged it. Those articles said that when people dressed up as the enemy, insert satan or devil, that they were making fun of him. He was insulted by this and it angered him, and I say anything I can do to anger or insult the enemy is okay with me. So it still is up to you to decide, if you decide to be involved, please be careful, if you are taking your children out, know the neighborhood you are in. When you get home, go through all the candy and check it out, look for wrap that has been tampered with, discard it, some communities have free x-ray for candy. Absolutely no eating any candy while out walking, as you cant check it out, and of course there is that issue of choking. If you are home, passing out candy, keep your porch lit and free from obstruction, it is hard to see and walk with some of these costumes. And for crying out loud, enjoy this time, laugh, and act scared if they have taken the time to dress scary, if you are going to participate, then participate. Lord as this day falls on Thursday, bless all involved, that they may know You, and You will Bless them, keep the children safe from injury. Lord, let this be the year that not one incident of tampering is found, that all the ghosts and goblins enjoy their bounty with Your Blessing, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
