It seems like its been a little quiet lately. Everyone busy with the holidays? Anyway, I thought Id share a picture and I looked through my previous posts and I dont think Ive shared this one before. Ancestry says I originally shared this back in 2009, but I know I dont have this original photo and I cant for the life of me remember who I got it from. The file is dated July 2006 so maybe I got it in WV? But thanks to whoever it was! This is my 2nd great-grandmother, Naomi Jemima Wiley. She is the great-granddaughter of the famous Jenny Wiley. Born in Kentucky, she married Jefferson Darius Long and they moved to Lincoln County, WV. I believe this was so Jeff could work in the timber industry. Unfortunately, Jeff died young and left her with three children. I believe that he died in 1889. The following year, Naomi (called Oma by the family) went on to remarry James Calvery (aka Cap) Vickers. Cap brought several children by his first wife to the marriage (not sure if he was widowed as I cant find a death date for the wife). Cap and Naomi also had several children together so it ended up being a big family. Naomi and Cap ended up in Logan County and are buried in the Dingess Cemetery according to FindAGrave. The Long and Vickers family have a reunion each year up at Cedar Lake, WV to get together and celebrate our merged family. Id love to hear from any other Jenny Wiley descendants, if youre out there! I know I met a few at the Eastern Kentucky Genealogy Conference this year! We were all crying in the bathroom with the story teller / reenactor who played Jenny.
