It seems maybe a bit odd and a bit random, and although this is not my first time acknowledging her, I want to do so again. Mother Theresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 consisted of over 4,500 sisters and is active in 133 countries. They run hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; childrens and family counseling programmes; orphanages; and schools. Mother Teresa was the recipient of numerous honours including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. In late 2003, she was beatified, the third step toward possible sainthood, giving her the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. A second miracle credited to her intercession is required before she can be recognised as a saint by the Catholic Church. After a life that no book or movie could ever do true justice; a life of hardship, of resiliance and of love; today her legacy is still left helping those left fortunate wordwide. It really leaves me wondering am I ... are we ... really doing enough? Today, I take a moment and honour one of the most selfless, most dedicated (although still humanly-flawed) human beings the world has ever known. RIP Blessed Teresa of Calcutta (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997)
