It seems that every day here on FB, friends share their sadness and seek support when beloved companion animals... dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, rats, and more... pass away. Others write about their sadness due to the passing on of animals they have befriended in shelters or at farm sanctuaries. It all pulls so hard at my heart and I offer encouraging words of support where ever possible. . Im sure we all do what we can to help friends mourn the loss of companion animals who they treat as family members. But what about the many billions of animals who die unnecessarily every year, alone, anonymously, terrified, and in pain... in the name of food? Who mourns them? Who will miss their innocent eyes, their gentle nature? Who will shed a tear because their simplest desires, to be loved and to live a peaceful life with their loved ones, went unfulfilled? . Dog, pig, cat, cow, parrot, chicken, ferret, turkey... there is no difference. They all are intelligent beings who can and do bond in loving relationships with each other and with humans, when given the chance to do so. And they are all capable of terrible suffering when abused and killed by humans. . To anyone who has lost a beloved companion animal, please make the connection... your dog or cat who passed away is the same soul as the pig or the chicken about whom you never even think before consuming their remains. Please, spread your compassion and love to all animals. They all deserve your respect and your love. Make changes. Is there a better way to honor those companions who you loved, but who are no longer with you, than to show them that you now understand? .
