It seems the South African public and media are selective in condemning arrogance by public officials. I have noticed certain statements uttered by three gentlemen which went unchallenged. Firstly Sanrals Chief Economist, Dr Roelof Botha had this to say at the Gauteng e-Tolls inquiry; So if you are in the bottom income quota and using public transport, you should actually not participate in the debate, you should actually shut up. Secondly SAA Acting CEO spoke on national radio and said; I dont understand what the fuss is about. I dont have a degree. Thirdly Eskom Executive Steve Lennon came out guns blazing at the press conference to explain load shedding; The viral rumour going around that Eskom is scheduling a national blackout is absolute nonsense. Add to that Gareth Cliff and Steve Hofmeyr tweets. Can you imagine if it was Hlaudi Motsoeneng, Bheki Cele or Jacob Maroga who uttered those statements? Oh yes they would be so fired by now. We have a long way to go. Oh inde lendlela esihambayo. Singing.
