It seems to me Wood is like a leaf, blowing with the wind of political opportunism. And yet his report itself was a slap on the wrist and a caution for his employers, the UK government who were effectively told their Regulation and Tax policies were mince. His first instinct with that report was right - promote the interests of the industry that laid his personal golden egg. It doesnt really matter if its 16 billion barrels or 24 billion. Its a lot of black gold, and with the Union, every penny of the revenues would be split 12 ways, with the rUK helping itself to 11 of those splits.
