It seems to me that I am now being called to do heritage work, - TopicsExpress

It seems to me that I am now being called to do heritage work, management of which I have university qualifications for. About two years ago I visited the ruins of Kaditshwene just outside Zeerust. This has been dubbed the most advanced iron age civilisation in southern Africa. I was there for personal reasons; I am a Mohurutshe wa mokgatlha wa kgomo and the place carries my dithako/ancestral origins. The place is now divided into four white owned farms at war with each other over the spoils of heritage gold. A nice Afrikaner lady spontaneously received and generously hosted, freely taking us through the tour of the place. I subsequently wrote an article in the local rag on the visit. Now I am getting frantic calls from there; apparently youth activists are bent on protest action over the neglect of such a seminal heritage site - their cries arise from the usual gripes of lack jobs and development. I have been reluctant to get involved so far, except help out where I can; I perhaps need to review this stance - this is maybe the ancestral hue and cry.
