It seems to me that one of the few ways we can hit out at the corrupt elite (short of a French Revolution-style cull) is by literally not buying into their neo-liberal mind-numbingly consumerist lifestyle. If you genuinely want to see social change, you have to make the effort to put your money where your mouth is. Unfortunately even if every single person who voted Yes followed this principle, it would still be less than half of the people living in Scotland, but we have to start somewhere. Dont complain about the CEO of Nestle wanting to privatise water supplies, but then support his company by eating Cheerios (my kids are in for a surprise at breakfast tomorrow). Dont complain about the bankers giving themselves vast bonuses, but keep your account with RBS. We all need to start taking responsibility for our own actions and become ethical (and minimal) consumers. Otherwise how can we possibly criticise No voters when they complain about the austerity measures the government THEY voted in confidence of are imposing? Im going to start doing some research and post a list of ethical/unethical companies on here, unless somebody already has one prepared? :-)
