It seems to me that the nettle is a plant fiercely attached to her - TopicsExpress

It seems to me that the nettle is a plant fiercely attached to her freedom. It is implanted where it wants. This notion of freedom, essential to any spiritual quest , seems strangely neglected by the major religions. Hinduism is obsessed with the notion of purity and the risk of staining , while Christianity guilty individual with a history of alleged original sin , in which the woman does not take the starring role . In a sense , nettle teaches us to deliver us from the fear at the growing violence that pervades our society, and whose dictatorship is about to present itself as a compelling alternative . In a famous speech in the midst of economic crisis, President Franklin Roosevelt declared: I affirm that the only thing we have to fear ... is fear itself . And fifty years later, John Paul II took up , like an echo : Do not be afraid . Celtic and Germanic warriors - who knew nettle - did not fear death, because they believed in the survival of the soul in the afterlife . All this seems very ridiculous in contemporary materialism .
