It started out like any other 15 degree below zero day. Officer - TopicsExpress

It started out like any other 15 degree below zero day. Officer Dearing was investigating a motor vehicle accident on the Penobscot River Bridge....eastbound from Bangor toward Brewer. It was apparent that the lovely morning sunrise was at least a contributing factor to that crash. See how I said eastbound and later said, sunrise. It was so that you could use investigatory skills to figure it out using the first paragraphs information. You were right, the sun was in the drivers eyes. (pay attention because you might be able to figure out what happened next). As Dearing was mulling about outside the car assessing the damages he heard a car coming upon him...eastbound....(here we go again). There might have been a couple of other reasons for the driver to strike the rear of Officer Dearings cruiser but again, the direction of travel and morning sunrise was also a factor. But, you knew this because you were paying attention. Nice work. When an a crash occurs and it involves a police vehicle, the commanding officer comes to the scene. Obviously, having a police officer that was involved in the crash, investigating his or her own crash, could prove to be problematic. Here comes Sgt. Wade Betters. He begins his investigation into the second investigation that happened because of the first investigation. Can you see the future? I bet you can. Betters said to himself, am I in the movie Groundhog Day? Is this Final Destination 27? Did I win the lottery? Nope, none of the above. Betters was struck in the rear of his SUV and the other vehicle careened into a snowbank and could have gone off the bridge, but it did not. Do you know what boxes were checked as a factor in the crash? Yes, you do. All our our vehicles are still operable and no one was hurt in the making of this Facebook post. SLOW DOWN when traveling into the rising or setting sun. This should be in a fortune cookie. All of these crashes could have been avoided if folks were paying attention, using sunglasses, driving slower and if police vehicles were not magnetic. I share a photo of crash number three. Betters is fine, Dearing is fine, all the drivers are fine. A little sheet metal damage but nothing a fire axe and an old piece of a yield sign wont fix. We will be here! Have a great night.
