It takes a village to do what we do... I (Mona) have to say with complete pride that we have some of the most caring, tough, dedicated and committed woman and men in the business of saving lives right here in Stokes! This morning before daylight most of the 24 lives saved due to our groups efforts were getting bathed and loaded up to make the trip North! Six of our dedicated foster Moms interrupted their work schedule to deliver them to the pickup spot safely... shed a few tears give/receive lots of puppy kisses.. put on tags and collars for each... Ensure each has all vaccines/dewormer required.. all records complete.. They are now headed to vet so all gets a health certificate to then travel to Port Washington NY were their vets will go over them again... Bathe again and groom who is in need.. Spay /Neuter and microchip then placed up for adoption! Normally 95% are adopted in the first few days...usually all within the week! They do back ground checks.. Vet references... Personal references and even look at were they will live... Via a special program... Then a special team of adoption counselors reach out to new owners within a month to see how new pet is fitting in and offer services for any problems... Wow! We are so lucky to have this partnership with such a wonderful organization! Little fact... Since our partnership began in Feb 2012 we have saved over 700 lives! Yes 700 animals that would have died had we not stepped in! Mind boggling! If it were not for our volunteers it would not happen! It costs money to perform this service... We do fundraisers to raise the money.. (i.e. our vet bill last month alone was over $1700)... Most animals require vet care to be healthy enough to travel to be adopted... Not including cost of vaccines/dewormer... So we can continue this life saving work please support our efforts! Visit our new fb store at The SCHS Thrifty Paw... We will be adding new stuff frequently.... You can donate and claim on your taxes as we are non profit. Thank you for caring and for all you do to help us help those in need. A special thanks to our dedicated fosters...and Partner Canine our partners in Boone who help make this program a huge success. Emily Burgess..Jill Burgess.. Carol Motsinger.. Cathy Marks.. Christie Otten.. Julianne Hurley...Andrea England.. Heather Macemore.. Terry Cochran.. Nicole Taylor .. Rhonda Duggins.. Joan Southern.. Tina Osborne.. Debbie Moore.. Jessica.. Wendy Martin..Amy Jackson..Thank you all so very much for everything you do... For as you know it does take a village!
